Author’s Journal 2021

Friday, December 31, 2021 – Made new year revisions to the Bible Reading Plan.

Thursday, December 23, 2021 – Added to the Bible Nuggets chapter.

Monday, December 6, 2021 – Added to the Gospel Nuggets chapter.

Tuesday, November 30, 2021 – Added to the chapters Gospel Nuggets and Faith Nuggets.

Friday, November 12, 2021 –

  • Made some refinements to the Introduction, mainly to emphasize that the chapters do not have be read sequentially.
  • Deleted the chapter Kingdom Christianity. The reason for this was that, upon reflection, I didn’t like the idea of inventing a new term. Those trying to brainwash us these days are always giving us new terms to learn.

Monday, November 8, 2021 – Added to the chapter Life Nuggets.

Monday, October 18, 2021 – Added to the chapter Gospel Nuggets.

Sunday, October 10, 2021 – Revised the Introduction to keep it consistent with the title and subtitle of the book (see change just below).

Saturday, October 9, 2021 – Changed the subtitle of the book from “Kingdom Christianity for Men and Their Families” to “Jesus Christ and the Bible for Men and Their Families, because while the latter is longer, it might be easier to understand and less susceptible to misinterpretation.

Friday, October 8, 2021 –

Thursday, October 7, 2021 –

  • Expanded the chapter Kingdom Christianity in Part One: Whatever Became of Jesus Christ?
  • Added to the chapter Bible Nuggets in Part Four: How Do I Get More Comfortable with the Bible?

Monday, October 4, 2021 – Added a Question/Comment box to the bottom of practically every page of the book.

Friday, September 24, 2021 – Beefed up the new chapter Kingdom Christianity.

Thursday, September 23, 2021 – Streamlined the Introduction and wrote a new first chapter for Part One of the book: Kingdom Christianity.

Wednesday, September 22, 2021 –

  • Revised the Introduction to support the change described in the bullet just below.
  • Changed the book’s subtitle from Christianity for Men and Their Families – Not Church to Kingdom Christianity for Men and Their Families because it struck me as better to say what the book was about than what it wasn’t about.
  • Added an entry to Abbreviations and Notations.

Tuesday, September 21, 2021 –

Monday, September 20, 2021 –

Completed transferring the remaining chapters in Part Three: How Do I Live This Life? from Box.com to WordPress.com in the same way and for the same reason as described just below for this and the other Parts. While some material (such as the audio recordings) will need to stay on Box.com, all the chapters now sit on the WordPress site. This means the “Search the book” function now works properly.

I added back a Copyrights page by pulling that information out of About This Book and Author.

Began a closing chapter for each of the four parts to the book as follows:

  1. Gospel Nuggets in Part One: Whatever Became of Jesus Christ?
  2. Faith Nuggets in Part Two: To Believe, or Not to Believe?
  3. Life Nuggets in Part Three: How Do I Live This Life?
  4. Bible Nuggets in Part Four: How Do I Get More Comfortable with the Bible?

These are for short entries. I’ll add to them over time.

Sunday, September 19, 2021 – Transferred one chapter in Part Three: How Do I Live This Life? in the same way and for the same reason as described just below for this and the other Parts. This leaves 8 of the 19 chapters in Part Three still on Box.com.

Saturday, September 18, 2021 – Transferred three of the chapters in Part Three: How Do I Live This Life? in the same way and for the same reason as described just below for the other Parts. This leaves 9 of the 19 chapters in Part Three still on Box.com.

Friday, September 17, 2021 – Transferred all the chapters in Part One: Whatever Became of Jesus Christ? in the same way and for the same reason as described yesterday for Parts Two and Four.

Thursday, September 16, 2021 –

Wednesday, September 15, 2021 – Created links in the Table of Contents to explain the different parts of the book (Parts One through Four). The explanations currently showing are short, but I intend to expand them in due time.

Tuesday, September 14, 2021 –

  • De-cluttered the bottom of About This Book and Author by adding a PAQ (Previously Asked Questions) page for offloading dated exchanges with readers.
  • Added parentheses to “A book in the form of a website” that shows up in the upper lefthand corner of all the book’s pages for the purpose of helping the phrase look less like the book’s subtitle. (Previously rendering the phrase in sentence case rather than capitalizing it as a title would be capitalized was for the same purpose.)
  • Wrote an Introduction to the book, modifying About This Book and Author, and moving Church Is Obsolete…but Jesus, the Bible, and Family Are Not to Part Three: How Do I Live This Life?

Monday, September 13, 2021 –

Sunday, September 12, 2021 – Wrote new chapter: Let Every Day Be a Memorial Day for Jesus Christ.

Saturday, September 11, 2021 – Added about 20% to the Introduction: Church Is Obsolete…but Jesus, the Bible, and Family Are Not.

Friday, September 10, 2021 – Wrote new chapter: Do the Right Thing at the Right Time for the Right Reason in the Right Way.

Saturday, August 14, 2021 – Wrote new chapter: Transgenderism Is a Lie.

Saturday, August 7, 2021 – Answered question about the 2020 edition of the New American Standard Bible at the bottom of About This Book and Author.

Monday, August 2, 2021 – Today I made extensive revisions to the book, including…

  • …streamlining the front matter as well as the appendices so that there is less distraction in the Table of Contents to the book’s main content. This meant deleting some material, but it mainly meant consolidating the beginning and ending material into fewer stand-alone categories.
  • …eliminating all cryptic placeholder chapters. While these were useful to me, I came to see that they could be confusing and potentially frustrating to readers.
  • …eliminating the supplemental essays entirely, using many of them as chapters in the book. This cleans up the book (website) and makes the book easier for a reader to digest.
  • …dropping the daily dedications, including the Dedication page itself. I think the time I’ve been spending on it could be better spent improving the permanent parts of the book. I at least want to give that a try.

The total effect of these changes is to make the book complete in its current state. This does not mean that I am anywhere near close to being finished with it; there is much refining I want to do. But whereas up to yesterday it looked like a highway construction site that did not allow regular traffic, it now appears as a highway that will take a person to a destination. I just need to focus my attention going forward to smoothing out all the bumps in the road.

Sunday, August 1, 2021 – Revised the book’s subtitle from Christianity for Family, Not Church to Christianity for Men and Their Families – Not Church.

Friday, July 30, 2021 – Made minor corrections and improvements in the front matter of the book.

Thursday, July 29, 2021 – Expanded the structure of the book from two parts to three, as reflected in the Table of Contents.

Wednesday, July 28, 2021 –

  • Made the essay “Three Founders on God in America’s Founding Documents” an internal addendum to the essay “God in America’s Founding Documents
  • Deleted another essay and reorganized the others. Now down to 40+ essays from a previous high of 50+. Would eventually like to minimize and even eliminate the “Supplemental Material” section so that the book – The King’s Man – stands on its own.

Tuesday, July 27, 2021 –

  • Removed the remaining 614 posts. The book (website) is now “post-free.”
  • Established an Index page for the book, which will be powered by a search function.

Monday, July 26, 2021 –

  • Changed the chapter title of “Jesus” to “Jesus the Man.”
  • Began removing posts from the site. Most of these have to do with 2020 events and have become extraneous to the book. (WordPress “posts” are date-related.) The total number of posts reached was 759 (670 from July 2020 to January 2021, plus 89 for the Gospel Chapter Introductions). All these posts have to be removed one by one and in a two-step process because of the peculiarities of the WordPress software, and also because I want to retain some of the content (Gospel Chapter Introductions) for the book.
  • Converted the Gospel Chapter Introductions to more useful format, eliminating 89 of the 759 posts in the process (the total is now down to 670).
  • I otherwise drove the remaining posts down to 614.

Sunday, July 25, 2021 – Established a placeholder for the chapter on “Jesus” (currently the third chapter).

Thursday, July 22, 2021 –

  • Changed the book’s subtitle from Christianity without Church to Christianity for Family, Not Church.
  • Shortened the Introduction.
  • Shortened the beginning of the Dedication page.
  • Modified the first chapter, including changing its title from “Church Is Obsolete…but Jesus and the Bible Are Not” to “Church Is Obsolete…but Jesus, the Bible, and Family Are Not.”
  • Slightly expanded the placeholder for the second chapter (“The Treasure Map Is Not the Treasure.”)
  • Established a placeholder for sixth chapter: “Biblical Concepts and Themes”

Tuesday, July 20, 2021 – Revised the opening paragraph to the appendix titled “Other Writings” (which is books and essays).

Sunday, July 18, 2021 – Finished off the change made on July 6 and described below regarding the title of The Biblical Case for the Second Coming as Accomplished Fact by making the change to the pdf as well. I also removed the “About the Author” section at the end of the book.

Thursday, July 15, 2021 – Added “Gospel Chapter Introductions” of the 89 chapters in the four Gospels to the the “Tools for Improving Biblical Literacy” page.

Wednesday, July 14, 2021 – Revised the Bible Reading Plan (BRP) (under “Tools to Improve Biblical Literacy”) to consist of three readings per day – down from four, which was down from six prior to that. This was achieved by including all chapters of the OT but spreading them over three years. The two NT readings are unchanged.

Tuesday, July 13, 2021 – Gave titles for the next few chapters to be written

  • 2 – The Treasure Map Is Not the Treasure
  • 3 – Jesus
  • 4 – Jesus Christ (revised to “Christ Means King,” revised again to “‘Christ’ Means ‘King’”)

Monday, July 12, 2021 –

  • Cleaned up the Table of Contents.
  • Removed five chapters (2-6) from Part One of the book and packaged them as a series of essays titled “A Man and His Family.” You can find them at “Essays” under “Other Writings.” This was the last step of my abandoning the “Q&A” format I had originally adopted for the book. I found it too confining.
  • Cleaned up the “Other Writings” page.
  • Changed the title number and name of the chapter on biblical literacy (from “Achieving Biblical Literacy” to “Tools for Improving Biblical Literacy”). Also added content in the introductory section of that page.
  • Made minor reading improvements to Chapter 1 – “Church Is Obsolete – but Jesus and the Bible Are Not.”
  • Slightly revised the book’s subtitle on the cover from Finding Jesus in the Bible, Serving Christ in the World…One Family at a Time to Christianity without Church. Revised the “Introduction” page accordingly.

Thursday, July 8, 2021 –

  • Added a new chapter titled “Church Is Obsolete…but Jesus and the Bible Are Not.”
  • Improved the explanation at the top of the “Dedication” page.
  • Added a “Feedback” page.
  • Revised the “About the Author” page.
  • Revised the parenthetical paragraph at the top of this page.

Tuesday, July 6, 2021 – In “Other Writings” under “Books,” I simplified the title of Whatever Became of Jesus Christ: The Biblical Case for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ as Accomplished Fact to The Biblical Case for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. Another benefit of this simplification is that it makes more obvious the book’s companion nature with The Biblical Case for Everyone Going to Heaven. (I left the title alone in the pdf because that would be much more complicated and problematic to change.)

Friday, July 2, 2021 – Added the following pages to the Table of Contents:
