The Duty of a Man:
Keeping a Family in Jesus Christ and the Bible
Reflections
Let me encourage you today to spend 2-3 minutes reflecting on the book you completed yesterday – whether you were reading it for the first time or rereading it.
- Do you have a clearer sense of your duty to your Maker and Redeemer?
- How well did you fulfill that duty in 2025 compared to previous years?
- In what specific ways do you want to do better this year?
These are questions to mull over in the sight of the Lord and in a spirit of prayer. Whether you keep a personal journal or not, consider writing down your thoughts so that you have them as a point of measurement for future use.
There is something about the word “duty” that summons the heart of an honest man. Such a man feels the need to respond to its call even when he doesn’t want to. That call – especially coming from the One who loved him enough to take nails to the point of death – gives him the courage to do that which he knows he ought to do. May you increasingly experience the joy that comes from knowing you’ve done your duty for Him.
Matt 25:21 “His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful slave. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.’
