Today will be a transition day between the last installment of the essay series “YHWH in the Old Testament” and the first installment of “YHWH in the Intertestamental Period.” Since the Old Testament age was 3,500 years, while the Intertestamental age was less than 500 years, the latter will take only a few installments.

After that will probably come the installments of “YHWH in the New Testament.” But it’s too soon to say for sure. For the reasons I gave you yesterday, I’m still not settled on the best way to frame and structure the content.

I do think I’m developing a better sense about how my serializing of book content can work out in practical terms. The first time I spoke to you about this, which was maybe a month or so back, I was talking simply about writing new books in serial fashion. The next time I spoke to you about the subject, which was two or three weeks after that, I said that some of the installments might turn out to be essays instead of books. This was a disappointment to me because I think books are the more appropriate format for the topics I currently feel compelled to write about. I am more upbeat today because I think most of these essays will only be essays temporarily…before becoming books.

Just clumping a bunch of essays together doesn’t usually result in a good book. For this reason, even if I am able to link together related essays into a series, and essay series into a book, I won’t just be copying and pasting them in a logical sequence. I’ll have to trim, add, and otherwise re-work the material so that the essay series or the book is presenting a single, integrated idea – not just a string of related ideas.

By the way, if you find my installments hard to read because of my tinkering with structure and framing, and that, as a result, distracting to your Bible reading, then you have my blessing to unsubscribe from this daily email and go back just reading the Bible according to the Daily Help link. In other words, if it ever becomes an either/or choice, always choose reading the Bible over reading my writings. (Just make sure it’s a Christ-centered Bible reading!)

Asking people to believe things that so few people currently believe – especially when you’re a nobody like me – requires lots of ‘splainin’. These ideas deserve no less. Only when the ‘splainin’ is combined with your daily Bible reading, however, will you be able to have the confidence to believe things like everyone is going to heaven and that the Second Coming happened long ago. Don’t revel in being a Christian, because that’s being holier-than-thou. Revel in being human being…because it’s the human race Jesus was crucified for.

Blessed be the Lord Jesus Christ, God and Father of us all!
(Isaiah 9:6)
