The word “gospel” means “good news” and was used for royal proclamations or announcements in biblical times; Jesus used this term to describe His teaching about the coming of the kingdom of God. It is also used to title the four accounts of His life, death, and resurrection – The Gospel according to Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.
