- “Abaddon” is a term associated with Sheol (Job 26:6; 28:22; Prov 15:11; 27:20), but its meaning is less certain because it is found less frequently in the Bible. (Sheol/Hades appears in the Bible 75 times, while Abaddon appears only 7 times, most of them in conjunction with Sheol/Hades.) The meaning of the word given by Strong’s Concordance is “(place of) destruction or ruin.”
