References to GODS:
- The Hebrew word for God in Gen 1:1 and elsewhere is ELOHIM. An “-IM” at the end of a Hebrew noun usually indicates a plural condition. - The expression “God of gods” appears in the NASB 1995 in the following verses: Dt 10:17; Ps 136:2; Dan 2:47; 11:36 e
- Ps 45:7, quoted in Heb 1:9, speaks of two “Gods.” – “Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You…”
- 1 Cor 8:5-6 speaks of “many gods and many lords.”
- Jn 10:34-36, quoting from Ps 82:6-7, speaks of God addressing men as “gods.”
SONS OF GOD
- The expression “SONS OF GOD” appears 10x in the NASB 1995 (OT 5x; NT 5x).
- The five OT occurrences are divided between the books of Genesis (Gen 6:2, 4) and Job (Job 1:6; 2:1; 38:7).
- The five NT occurrences all speak of human beings transformed into “sons of God” through Christ (Messiah).
