- Whenever you see the word “immorality” in the New American Standard Bible (NASB 1995) New Testament, know that it is referring to sexual immorality. I make this point because in our day we usually use the word “immorality” to mean something that is wrong – what the Bible calls “unrighteousness.” In other words, we wouldn’t think that the word “immorality” by itself would always mean “sexual immorality,” yet that is exactly what the case is with respect to the word “immoral” in all its forms (immoral, immorality, immoralities, and immorally) when found in the NASB 1995 NT.
- The Greek word being translated is “porneia” from which we get the word “pornography” and which means in Greek “fornication” which is, of course, sex outside of marriage.
