BSN: Joshua

  • Joshua, helper of, and successor to, Moses. His birth name was Hoshea the son of Nun (from the tribe of Ephraim). “Joshua” was the name given to him by Moses (Num 13:16)
    • He was a military leader of Israel for Moses (Ex 17:8-16).
    • He was one of the twelve spies chosen to scout the promised land in Numbers (Num 13:8).
    • He was appointed by the Lord to take Moses’ place (Num 27:15-23).
    • He led Israel into Canaan and wrote the Bible book that bears his name.
  • “Joshua” and “Jesus” are the same name: Jesus = Joshua
