Before and after Messiah was a man, He was an angel. Likewise, before and after He was an angel, He was God.

By angel we mean angelic, angel-like – that is, a heavenly, not an earthly being. Specifically, the chief of all heavenly beings – that is, the chief of all angels. He was preeminently God’s angel – the angel of the Lord.

It is in this sense – a heavenly being both before and after His incarnation – that we see the apostles write of Jesus.
