- Moses’ father-in-law is called by multiple names in the Old Testament, mainly Jethro – Ex 3:1; 4:18; 18:1, 2, 5, 6, 9, 10, 12, 17
- His other names include:
- Reuel – Ex 2:18
- the Kenite – Judg 1:16
- Hobab – Judg 4:11
- Because Num 10:29 says “Then Moses said to Hobab the son of Reuel the Midianite, Moses’ father-in-law…” some people think some of the biblical references to Moses’ father-in-law are to his grandfather-in-law, and that this accounts for some of the confusion about his name.
