John, the son of Zebedee, referred to the Holy Spirit in a variety of ways. Some things he wrote are direct quotes of Jesus; others are possibly John’s own words (i.e. we cannot know for sure if he heard Jesus speak them or not; just because John didn’t record them doesn’t necessarily mean Jesus didn’t speak them in John’s hearing).
