BSN: The Rock

“Rock,” along with “stone” and related words, is listed in Types and Shadows of Christ.
New Testament references to Messiah as a rock:
- The apostle Paul calls Christ “the rock” in Moses’ time: 1 Cor 10:1-4
- Paul quotes a mashup of Is 8:14 and Is 28:16 in Rom 9:33 in referring to Jesus
- The apostle Peter quotes Is 8:14 in referring to Jesus in 1 Pet 2:8
Old Testament references to Messiah as a rock:
- Isaiah alludes to Christ when he writes of “the rock from which you were hewn” in Is 51:1-2. Also see Is 8:14.
Jesus refers to those who hear His words and act upon as being like a man who builds his house on a rock in Luke 6:46-49 (reinforced by Matt 7:24-27), as opposed to a man who builds his house on sand.
