  • The Second Coming –
    • The two places in Scripture that come closest to the phrase “The Second Coming.”
      • John 14:3 “If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.”
      • Heb 9:27-28 And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment, so Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin, to those who eagerly await Him.
    • The Second Coming was referred to by many other expressions: the day of the Lord, the day of Christ, the coming of the kingdom of God, the coming of the Lord, etc. Note that “the coming of the Lord” can be confusing for us since we think of the life He lived in the four Gospels as His first coming; we just have keep in mind that what the apostles called “His coming” is what we call “His second coming.”
      • It was the day of the Lord
        • It comes as destruction (Is 13:6; Joel 1:15), as it did for Jerusalem in 586 BC and 70 AD.
