- Timothy was Paul’s most well-known helper; he is the person to whom the letters 1st and 2nd Timothy are directed.
- Timothy is introduced in Acts 16:1. Luke also mentions him in 17:14-15; 18:5; 19:22; 20:4.
- There are only three of Paul’s 14 New Testament letters in which Timothy is not mentioned (Galatians, Ephesians, and Titus).
- Timothy was noted for his youth (1 Tim 4:12). He was also noted for the fact that while his mother was a Jewish believer, his father was a Greek (Act 16:1).
- Although the two were not physically related, Paul wrote of Timothy as if he were Paul’s beloved son.
