Truth is reality; it’s real things, events, and facts. Truth is that which is objectively true, transcending any limitations of subjective or personal perceptions of it.
Truth was known in Old Testament times:
Ps 119:160 The sum of Your word is truth,
And every one of Your righteous ordinances is everlasting.
Jesus Himself acknowledged this fact:
John 17:17 “Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth.
Yet truth fully blossomed in Jesus Christ:
John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.
***
John 8:30 As He spoke these things, many came to believe in Him.
John 8:31 So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine;
John 8:32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”
***
John 8:39 They answered and said to Him, “Abraham is our father.” Jesus said to them, “If you are Abraham’s children, do the deeds of Abraham.
John 8:40 “But as it is, you are seeking to kill Me, a man who has told you the truth, which I heard from God; this Abraham did not do.
Therefore, when we read the Old Testament, we can do so with the fully-blossomed truth in mind.
