On this page, I catalog interactions I have with people who are not my readers – at least not yet. I’m reaching out to them by commenting on the websites of others.

  • Monday, January 22, 2024 – I commented on a video clip of a Richard Dawkins interview – Dawkins being an evolutionary biologist and outspoken atheist. My short comment will likely get lost in the large pile of comments than have already accumulated in just a few days. Although I didn’t comment on this particular point, the first two minutes of clip are striking because they consist of the pompous Dawkins describing how much contempt he has for the defenders of Christ and the Bible, and, specifically, that he doesn’t like William Lane Craig because Craig is “pompous.” Only people unfamiliar with Craig would not guffaw.

    • I asked a question on the Wintery Knight post “What criteria do historians use to get to the minimal facts about the historical Jesus?” It has led to interaction with someone named “Theophilus,” and later, “Wintery Knight” himself.
    • I was only three minutes into a YouTube video – “Reading scripture without being afraid of post-modernism (with Kruptos)” – before I stopped and wrote this comment. I don’t know if I’ll watch any more of the video or not, because what I’ve heard so far is over my head. Doesn’t the term “post-modernism” strip the term “modern” of its meaning?
  • Saturday, January 13, 2024 – I had occasion today to google search [mike gantt “protestant reformation”]. I was doing so to find something I had written in the past. I didn’t find what I was looking for, but it did yield the following results – mainly links to the sites of the others where I had commented. It reminded me that there was a period of time, roughly 2010-2015, when I interacted with a great many atheist and Christian sites about the things I teach. I’ve had my comments deleted on both atheist and Christian sites. After enough of these, I cut back the time I was investing in writing on such sites. I had invested a great deal of time in answering objections to my positions, so to have all the work so easily and quickly destroyed by the site owners discouraged my involvement. I’ve only recently started the interactions back and I’m being selective about them. We’ll see how it goes this time around.
    • In 2015, I commented a couple of times – once in response to the author and another time in response to a commenter – on a Credo House post by C. Michael Patton titled “Did the Early Church Fathers Believe in Sola Scriptura?
    • In 2014, I commented on a Thinking Christian post by Tom Gilson titled “Do We Want to Win the Culture Wars.”
    • In 2013, I posted over 40 comments on the Called to Communion site under a post titled “I Fought the Church, and the Church Won.” There are hundreds of comments, so you just have to search the page for [gantt].
    • In 2013, I interacted with Andrew Perriman on his site P.OST How to tell the biblical story in a way that makes a difference. The specific post to which I was responding was titled “A half-truth of modern evangelicalism: Jesus lives in the heart of the believer.”
    • In 2012, I interacted with Andrew Perriman on his site P.OST. See “The Message of Ephesians”.
    • In 2012, I interacted with John Loftus and some other atheists on the John Loftus site Debunking Christianity under the article “The 2012 Debunking Christianity Challenge.” John, or one of his helpers deleted my original comment but if you search the page (you have to first click on the “Comments” for them to show up) for “Gantt” or “Mike” you can find 7-8 reactions to my comment, which did not get deleted.
