American society has been afflicted with “societal Alzheimer’s.” That is, we’ve forgotten history. When a nation forgets its history, it is just like a man who has lost his memory. For example, our government was founded to secure “unalienable rights” that are “endowed” by a “Creator,” but political America in the 21st-century has forgotten all that and instead protects only man-made rights…and views of the Creator are not even allowed in the discussion.
The prognosis of a nation with societal Alzheimer’s is just as dismal as the prognosis of a man with Alzheimer’s. The Duty of a Man tells you how to inoculate yourself and your family against the ravages of this social disease. For the man who has Alzheimer’s, the only lasting hope is life after death in heaven; and for the nation with societal Alzheimer’s there is likewise the hope of life after America on earth. We do not yet see what that life will look like, but when we do, we will know that the Lord Jesus is the one true God who mercifully granted it to us. Cling to Jesus Christ and the Bible – unchanging truth!
We Have Seen This Movie Before
Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn was a Russian novelist and historian who had been imprisoned for eight years and then forced into exile for three more because he criticized the Soviet government – the government that kept Russia in the grip of communism for 70 years. Gaining a measure of freedom in 1956, he began publishing his writings about the brutality of daily life under the totalitarian Soviet regime. His writings brought him fame and admiration in Russia and around the world. In 1983, upon being recognized for his long and courageous stand, Solzhenitsyn gave a speech in London explaining the rise of atheistic communism in his country. That speech began with the following haunting words.
Over a half century ago, while I was still a child, I recall hearing a number of old people offer the following explanation for the great disasters that had befallen Russia: “Men have forgotten God; that’s why all this has happened.” Since then I have spent well-nigh 50 years working on the history of our revolution; in the process I have read hundreds of books, collected hundreds of personal testimonies, and have already contributed eight volumes of my own toward the effort of clearing away the rubble left by that upheaval. But if I were asked today to formulate as concisely as possible the main cause of the ruinous revolution that swallowed up some 60 million of our people, I could not put it more accurately than to repeat: “Men have forgotten God; that’s why all this has happened.”

As Russia forgot God and suffered the consequences, so America has forgotten God and is beginning to suffer the consequences. Men, our nation has been hijacked by pirates but God can and will save your family through Christ. He is an ark in the flood.
There Is a Cure
There is a cure for this societal Alzheimer’s. It’s called history. Study and learn from it. Start with His history and then turn to yours. You will discover where you parted company…and therefore how you are to return. He forgives…and He rewards repentance.
